smartCable is a comprehensive system of coordinated software tools for the entire product development process of wiring harnesses. From early architecture planning through 3D design in CATIA (V5H) to automated manufacturing planning in MicroStation (MS Cable), we offer an end-to-end tool chain that digitizes the entire workflow.

Our strength is the model-based process. Through digital transformation at phase boundaries, data flows automatically instead of having to be recreated. Combined with integrated change management and seamless, automated validation, we significantly shorten the path from design to production readiness.

For manufacturing, smartcable means maximum automation: We deliver not only the documentation, but also the direct control data for NC manufacturing machines (such as Komax systems). In addition, we enable simulation of manufacturing processes and support efficient formation of pre-assemblies to optimize the assembly process in the factory.

The direct coupling of design and manufacturing creates an end-to-end workflow. Design changes are managed across phases through our change management system. During development, the system already checks for manufacturability, so that what is planned in CAD can be implemented in production without unpleasant surprises.

Our intelligent data model forms the core of the entire tool chain. V5H (Engineering) and MS Cable (Manufacturing) work on a shared database. Every piece of information—whether 3D geometry, electrical wiring, or configuration—exists centrally. Changes made in engineering are available in real time for manufacturing planning. This eliminates time-consuming file transfers and ensures that all stakeholders always work with the same, current data.

The system is industry-independent and is used wherever electrical wiring and complex connection systems are planned, designed, or manufactured. Our strengths lie particularly in the automotive industry, manufacturers of transport and construction machinery, as well as in the area of complex control cabinets and new energy systems.

Traditional solutions often still work purely at the drawing level. This severely limits the possibilities for simulation and variant management.

smartCable, on the other hand, works model-based. We integrate simulations (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink), perform virtual validations, and consider the real installation situation in 3D space to identify errors before they physically occur ("first-time-right").

The path to productive use takes an average of 10 months. This period includes the analysis of your processes, setup of the system environment, specific customizing, training of teams, and a supported implementation phase.

Yes. Our system is open to existing data landscapes. We support common standards such as KBL (Harness Description List) and VEC (Vehicle Electric Container). In addition, we enable data imports via XML, SVG, or SQL and offer extensive options for individual customization.

We see ourselves as a long-term partner. After implementation, a mandatory maintenance contract ensures continuous support. This includes a dedicated hotline service, regular bug fixing, support with release planning, and our webinar series on new features and standards.

Our long-term goal is a fully digital, end-to-end tool chain for the entire wiring harness process.
